The Place of Wonders Foundation renews its commitment to the city of Venice through the award of six scholarships dedicated to two of the lagoon’s most emblematic traditional arts, reaffirming education as a vital instrument for safeguarding and ensuring the continuity of Venetian artisanal heritage.
The signing of the Patto Formativo—a moment of shared commitment between the Foundation and the six scholarship recipients—took place at Ca’ Farsetti, the seat of the Municipality of Venice, in the presence of Simone Venturini, Councillor for Tourism of the City of Venice. In his remarks, the Councillor highlighted that “in an age shaped by consumerism, craftsmanship demands time, dedication, and responsibility—foundational values of our identity that it is everyone’s duty to protect and pass on.”
The training programme includes four scholarships for the Course in the Creation and Use of Venetian Glass Beads, now in its third edition. The course is led by Alessia Fuga, a Murano master beadmaker internationally recognised for her technical excellence and deep knowledge of lampworked glass beads, alongside Marisa Convento, impiraressa and jewellery designer, a leading figure in the Venetian conteria tradition.
Alongside this path, the Foundation awards two scholarships for the programme dedicated to the Art of Burano Lace, now in its second edition and developed in collaboration with Atelier Martina Vidal. The atelier’s principal master is Marisa Vitturi, holder of the title Maestra di Arti e Mestieri, guardian of a rare body of knowledge of exceptional cultural value.
The courses will also be enriched by a module entitled Elements of Marketing, led by Monica Cesarato. Designed to provide professional orientation and essential skills, the module supports participants in understanding market dynamics, shaping a conscious professional identity, and effectively positioning their path within the contemporary context of the applied arts.
This initiative is made possible thanks to the support of Londra Palace Venezia, which actively shares this mission and stands alongside the Foundation in promoting and sustaining projects dedicated to Venice’s artisanal and cultural identity.
